Algebra
In class we were learning algebra. I know how to do algebra because my brother taught me how to do it. I think algebra is quiet easy because you just have to figure out what goes in the spot to make the answer correct.
This is an example to show you.
70+c=80
c=80-10
c=10
10 would be in the missing spot.
Here is one for you:
16+c=22

Talent Show
On the 13th of November it was the school Talent Show. Lots of people did great acts such as Magic Tricks, Songs and heaps of other amazing things. The Talent Show went all afternoon and I had HEAPS of fun!!! My friends Katie, Kayla, Hallie and Taz did a play called The News At Five. It was really funny and they did really well.
The prizes were books and certificates. I would hate to be the judge because all of the dances and jokes were so good. I really enjoyed the Talent Show.

Assembly, Term 4
This term my class did an assembly about poverty. We did it about poverty to show the school how poverty is effecting others in this world. We sung a song that was really fun and made up actions for it. I think poverty is a terrible thing. From doing this assembly I found out that a child dies every 3 seconds. We asked for everyone to wear to wear white that Friday and sing a song on the oval to show our support.

Halloween
On the 31st of October it is Halloween. Halloween means 'Hallowed Eve'. On Halloween you can go Trick or Treating for lollies while dressing up in scary costumes. People dress up because they believe that it will scare the spirits away. Trick or Treating is an American tradition.
This is about Halloween, All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
On the 31st of October it was Halloween. Halloween means 'Hallowed Eve'. Halloween is the night before All Saints Day. On All Saints Day we pray for all of those people who have become Saints. On all Souls Day is when we pray for all of those who have died. All Souls Day was on the 2nd of October.

Perimetre
In class we have been learning about perimeter. This is a summary I wrote about measuring perimeter.
From what we found out about measuring the perimeter of the desks there is length, and width. Then we had to add up all of the answers of the measurements together to get an overall answer. I think it was hard to transfer metres into center metres because you had to move the decimal point to the end of the number of how many numbers are at the end. I think measuring perimeter is easy because it gives you the distance around the shapes without have to measure the rest of the shape. I have learned to measure perimeter by measuring the length and the width 2 times then add them both together to get an answer. To measure the Perimeter of the Admin Block I had to use a trundle wheel. I thought it was hard to because you could get 2 different answers if you measure a different part.

moon and tide paragraph
For inquiry we are learning about the moon and tide. For homework we had to answer a question which was How dose the tide effect your life by the bay? These are my two paragraphs about it.
From what we found out about the tides the New moon and the Full moon were the most effected because the bulge was at its biggest. The largest tide was 2.55 metres high. The lowest tide was 0.3 metres. When it was the highest tide the moon phase was Waining Gibbous. When it was the lowest tide the moon phase was Waining Crescent. I think the highest tide was at Waining Gibbous because of the Gravitational Pull. I think the lowest tide was at Waining Gibbous because it was close to a New moon and the New moon is lined up with the sun and earth.
Many People rely on the tides. Fishermen rely on the tides to feed their family and to get money. Fishermen go out when it is low tide to catch bait and crabs. They catch fish at high tide because that is when the fish come out to find food. Sea creatures on the tide to find food and to make homes to live in.

Myst Diary Entry
This is my diary entry about Myst Island.
Dear Diary,
Today when I was in Myst Island I found the Myst book in a giant cog. When I opened it there was an Island that was called Mechanical Age. I could see the whole Island just moving around on the page. I could see the Island on a small screen about the size of a Kit-Kat bar. When I watched the screen for long enough the screen went black and I was suddenly transported to another world, the Mechanical Age. The first thing I saw when I got there was a big Chinese Temple that was different shades of green. I had a look at the house from a closer view and the walls were metal and looked very strong. Then I went inside of the house, there were two hallways, one going left and one going right. It took me to a dark gloomy room with the blue page so I picked it up. I went back to the hallways and I chose to go right. It led to an elevator, I went up in the elevator and it took me to a room with a giant cog in the middle. I found a compass and turned it 4 times east until I heard a chime like a church clock and I could get back to Myst Island.

Coraline
When Coraline steps through a little door she unfolds a new adventure. The house looks identical to her house but what happens there is completely different. Coraline discovers her other mother and father in the house and thinks they are great, because they give her lots of attentioand give her lots of yummy food. They want Coraline to stay with them forever so they can steal her sole.
Because I think this blurb gives some more of the story away and people might think it sounds more interesting. If I were Coraline I would not have followed the Circus mouse into the little door because it would be frightening. Coraline's other mother and father have black button eyes and wanted Coraline to let them sow buttons into her eyes.
I recommend this book for people who want a scary adventure. I rate it 100/100.

Channelwood Poems
In reading groups we did Haiku poems. This is a voice thread of what my group and I have made. These poems are about Channelwood Age.
This one is the one I wrote myself. Big trees grow above.
They grow so high look up, up
They're big, I feel small.

Different Phases Of The Moon Explanation
There are 8 different phases of the moon. They are called, New Moon, Waxing Crescent, 1st Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Last Quarter and Waining Crescent. The moon changes every night. It takes 291/2 days to get around the earth.
The first phase of the moon is New Moon. It is hard to see the new moon because it is on the opposite side of the earth to the sun, this is because the earth is blocking the sun's light. That also causes High and Low tide because the moon and the earth are pulling the tides. That is called gravitational pull.
The second phase of the moon is Waxing Crescent. This is when the moon looks like it is getting bigger but it is only getting shadowed by the sun's light. It is also pulling the tides because the sun, earth and moon are almost all lined up in a straight line.
The third phase of the moon is First Quarter. It is half black and half white. The white half is the one that can be seen and it gets it's light from the sun. This is when the sun and the earth are in front of the moon, so that is why only half of it can be seen.
The next phase of the moon is Waxing Gibbous. That is when it is almost a full moon so it is close to half way around the earth. The moon is almost at the top of the earth, so if the black part of the moon was lined up with some land and the bulge around the earth was big then that would be high tide.
The fifth phase of the moon is Full Moon. The Full Moon is all white because the sun can get to all of it and the earth is not blocking it. This is when the sun moon and earth are all lined up.
The next phase of the moon is Waining Gibbous. People can only see three quarters of this phase of the moon because the moon is moving around the earth and the sun is shinning on it.
Next is Last Quarter. The Last Quarter is when only half of the moon is visible. It is also known as the Half Moon. At this point the moon has almost made a whole circle around the earth.
The last phase of the moon is Waining Crescent. This is when the moon has finished it's cycle around the earth. It is almost a New Moon again so it is almost all blocked by the earth and the sun is not shinning on even half of it. The tide is not as high when it is a Waining Crescent then when it is a New or Full moon because they are lined up with the bulge and the Waining Crescent is not.
The moon and the sun are very important because the sun gives us light and the moon gives us High and Low tide. The tides give us jobs like being fisherman and if there were no tides there would be no homes for the sea creatures and no sea food for us.

2 Minute Challenge
In class we do a 2 minute challenge.
A 2 minute challenge is when you get a sheet of times tables and Mrs R will time us for 2 minutes and we will try to fill out as many times tables as we can.
I think it is very fun and a great way to practice your times tables.
