TACKING UP A HORSE

Tacking up a horse is part of looking after it. It takes lots of practice but it is worth it because after one has finished the horse is ready to ride.













To do this get a halter which is a leather strap put around the horses neck. Undo the top buckle of the halter,bring it over to the horse's head and do up the top buckle.














Then bring the horse over by holding onto the leadrope. This is so one has control over the horse. Next tie up the horse to a secure rail, tie it up by the leadrope because if the horse plays up the rider has more control over the horse. Then get some brushes and brush the horse from head to tail and down the legs.











Next get a hoove pick and clean all four hooves with it so when one rides the horse it's feet won't get sore. When one has done that place the saddle blanket just behind the withers (the ridge beetween the horses shoulder blade) then place the saddle on top of the saddle blanket. After that tighten the girth (a band holding the saddle in place). After that get the bridle (a part of a horses harness that goes over it's head) and put it on by placing the bit (a bit is a part of the bridle that goes in it's mouth). To put on the bit put it at the horses mouth until it accepts it. Then bring the headband (the top part of a horses bridle) over the ears and tighten the throat lash (a throat lash is a strip that goes under the horses throat so you can steir the horse).







Next check if the saddle needs tightening and if it does do so (the saddle may need tightening because the horse can puff it's belly out). Roll down the stirrups (a stirrup is a strip joined to the saddle to put the riders feet in).







After one has finished following these steps then the horse is ready to ride and the rider can enjoy riding the horse.

Every Thursday 4/5R does DRAMA.

I like Drama because you get to act(silly) and take your shoes off.

When we go to drama we all take our shoes off then go and listen to a book.

The book is TASHI and i like TASHI books.

After we listen to the book we hop into groups of 5-6 people.

We have to act out the book and that is fun.

100 CUPBOADS

IN CLASS WE ARE READING 100 CUPBOARDS. SO FAR IT IS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE PICTURE IN YOUR HEAD. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS HENRYETTA BECAUSE SHE IS VERY FUNNY AND SEEMS QUIET SMART. THE BOOK IS ABOUT A BOY CALLED HENRY AND HE IS AT HIS COUSINS HOUSE. HIS BEDROOM IS IN THE ATTIC AND ONE NIGHT SOME PLASTER OF THE WALL FELL ON TO HIS HEAD AND THEN HE KEPT ON SCRAPING PLASTER OF THE WALL AND HE FOUND LOTS OF CUPBOARDS IN HIS WALL.

THIS IS A GREAT BOOK TO READ.

IN CLASS THIS TERM WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT HOW DO I/WE EFFECT THE HEALTH OF OUR PLANET. IT IS REALLY INTERESTING BECAUSE NOW I KNOW HOW MUCH HUMANS DO EFFECT THE HEALTH OF OUR PLANET. SO I MEASURED MY GLOBAL FOOTPRINT AND IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW MANY EARTHS WE WOULD NEED IF EVERYONE IN THE WORLD LIVED THE WAY YOU DO. THE NUMBER OF EARTHS WE WOULD NEED TO LIVE THE WAY I DO IS 2. SO FROM NOW ON I AM GOING TO START RECYCLING AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR US TO LIVE ON.

HITLER'S DAUGHTER

IN CLASS I AM READING HITLER'S DAUGHTER. SO FAR IT IS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE THERE IS LOTS OF EXPRESSION IN THE WRITING. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SO FAR THAT I HAVE MET IS LITTLE TRACY BECAUSE SHE IS SO SMALL AND SHE SEEMS VERY SMART.

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT BOOK TO READ.

Reverse Garbage

ON THE 10th JUNE ALL OF THE YEAR 4/5 CLASSES WENT TO THE HALL AND A COMPANY CALLED REVERSE GARBAGE CAME TO OUR SCHOOL. REVERSE GARBAGE IS A PLACE IN BRISBANE. IT WAS GREAT FUN BECAUSE WE GOT TO CHOOSE ALL THE MATERIALS FOR OUR OWN SCULPTURE. IT CAN HELP THE PLANET BECAUSE WE ARE REUSING OUR WASTE AND IT CAN REDUCE OUR WASTE. I THINK RECYCLING IS GREAT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT BECAUSE IT CAN REDUCE LANDFILL.

THE SCULPTURE I MADE WAS A SCRATCHING POST FOR MY CATS. I MADE IT WITH TWO TUBES GLUED TOGETHER AND WOOD SO THEY COULD JUMP ON THE TOP AND FROM THE TOP I GLUED ON SOME STRING SO THEY COULD PLAY WITH IT. I KNOW IT CAN HOLD MY CATS BECAUSE IT CAN HOLD ME. I CAN'T WAIT TILL THEY TRY IT OUT.

IN CLASS I AM READING A BOOK CALLED HOW TO TAME A BULLY BY NANCY WILCOX RICHARDS. SO FAR IT IS GREAT BECAUSE THEIR IS LOTS OF EXPRESSION IN THE WRITING. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK FOR EVERYBODY TO READ.

DON'T BREAK THE ICE IS A GAME WE PLAY IN CLASS. IT HELPS US LEARN HOW TO SPELL. LIKE IF THE WORD WAS CAT THE FIRST PERSON WOULD SAY C THE NEXT WOULD SAY A AND THE NEXT WOULD SAY T THEN THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CIRCLE WOULD SAY DON'T BREAK THE ICE AND SO ON. I THINK IT IS A REALLY FUN GAME TO PLAY AND A FUN WAY TO PRACTICE YOUR WORDS.

WE DO READING GROUPS EVERY DAY EXCEPT FOR WEDNESDAY. READING GROUPS IS WERE WE WRITE READING RESPONSES OR GO ON THE COMPUTER.IT IS REALLY FUN AND A GREAT WAY TO PRACTICE READING.
